Accountability from day one

Built to measure. Built to prove.

Namela is in its set-up phase. We have not yet delivered programmes. What we have done is build the measurement infrastructure before we start, so every investment is tracked, reported and evidenced from day one.

Transparency note: All figures below are Year 1 pilot targets, not results. We are raising the funding to deliver them. We believe funders deserve that distinction stated clearly.

Year 1 pilot targets

What success looks like in Year 1

2,000
learners to receive assessments and individual career profile reports
10
schools to be reached across the Free State pilot
75%
of learners expected to report a clearer subject or study decision
80%+
of pilot schools in township, rural or under-served settings
1,000+
tertiary, TVET, NSFAS and bursary applications to be supported
10+
parent and guardian information sessions to be held
6–8
communities to be reached through outreach
Year 2
when pilot baselines convert to firm admission and placement targets

Measurement framework

Four indicator categories, tracked per learner

Access indicators

Reach into under-served settings

  • Schools, learners and communities reached per term
  • Disaggregated by school, grade, gender and setting
  • Minimum 80% of schools in under-served settings
Output indicators

What is delivered to each learner

  • Assessments completed and reports issued
  • Guidance sessions delivered per facilitator
  • Parent sessions held per term
Outcome indicators

What changes as a result

  • Career awareness improvement, baseline to endline
  • Decision clarity: subject and study choices
  • Applications submitted: tertiary, TVET, NSFAS, bursary
Transition indicators

Follow-up at 6 and 12 months

  • University and TVET admissions
  • Bursaries and NSFAS funding secured
  • Placement in study, learnership or employment
